English Voice Acting Cast for Persona 5 Gets a Fresh Start
English Voice Acting Cast for Persona 5 Gets a Fresh Start
Sydney, Australia - October 21 –Atlus U.S.A., Inc. does not often get to announce voice casts, but considering the magnitude of the game, they can reveal a partial cast list for the English dub of Persona 5. Releasing in Australia on Feb. 14, 2017 on the PlayStation®4 (PS4), the English dub is being supervised by the long-time Persona series project lead in the Americas, Yu Namba.
“We at Atlus U.S.A. take pride in the quality and care we put into casting and dubbing for our games, and Persona 5 is no exception,” said Yu Namba, Persona 5 project lead and recording supervisor. “This is a completely new cast of characters, so we started with a blank slate in bringing life to them with our stellar cast of voice actors. It’s hard saying goodbye to the cast of previous Persona games, but we hope to bring an entirely new tone with a new set of actors for this game.”
The main Persona 5hero cast includes:
·Xander Mobus as the protagonist
·Cassandra Morris as Morgana
·Max Mittelman as Ryuji Sakamoto
·Erika Harlacher as Ann Takamaki
·Matt Mercer as Yusuke Kitagawa
·Cherami Leigh as Makoto Niijima
·Erica Lindbeck as Futaba Sakura
·Xanthe Huynh as Haru Okumura
·Robbie Daymond as Goro Akechi
Persona 5 is a game about the internal and external conflicts of a group of troubled youth who live dual lives. They have the typically ordinary day-to-day of a Tokyo high-schooler – attending class, after-school activities and part-time jobs. But they also undertake fantastical adventures by using otherworldly powers to enter the hearts of people. Their power comes from the Persona, the Jungian concept of the “self;” the game’s heroes realize that society forces people to wear masks to protect their inner vulnerabilities, and by literally ripping off their protective mask and confronting their inner selves do the heroes awaken their inner power, and use it to strive to help those in need. Ultimately, the group of Phantom Thieves seeks to change their day-to-day world to match their perception and see through the masks modern-day society wears.
Persona 5 will release on Feb. 14 in the Americas, Europe and Australia, for PlayStation 4. Pre-orders of the Steelbook Launch Edition are now available at EB Games and JB Hi Fi.

Cast: Chris Pine, Ben Foster, Jeff Bridges, Gil Birmingham Director: David Mackenzie
There's plenty of soul in the mournful Hell Or High Water.
Managing to cram in a hefty dose of socio-economic commentary in the ruins of towns riddled by foreclosure and debts, Hell Or High Water is the West Texas set tale of two brothers, Toby and Tanner (Pine and Foster) hell-bent on robbing banks for their own reasons.
Enter two Texas Rangers, one Alberto an Indian (Birmingham) whose rueful regret at the banks stealing their heritage and the other Marcus (Bridges), who's on the cusp of retirement, but not about to go lightly or willingly into the long night.
As the laconic game of cat and mouse plays out, there's a very real sense of roads colliding and personal stakes rising, but there's also a deep familial connection that makes itself known. Depression rears its head all throughout Hell or High Water; from the cutaway shots of roads that are riddled with foreclosure or debt signs or to the long shots of fields dotted with oil wells pumping futilely away, this is a film that's got its condemnation of the financial crisis and the banks hard-wired into its execution.
Sicario writer Taylor Sheridan manages shots of dry humour and Fargo-esque idiosyncratic trappings of character within his taut screenplay that examines the relationships between the two brothers and the two rangers, and works best when it concentrates on those elements. Both have bits of brotherhood scattered through; from Marcus' continual plaguing of put-upon Alberto with racial slurs or being annoying, to Toby and Tanner's reunion after Tanner's time in jail and his black sheep status within the family. But it's in the subtleties that this film works - the quieter moments, led by a hang-dog Pine who underplays to great effect, are infinitely more worthwhile than the continual quirks of some of the residents of West Texas. Sheridan captures the frailties of familial bonds with ease. And accentuated by a Warren Ellis / Nick Cave score, the whole thing bathes in a kind of timeless dread.
Equally worthy of recognition is a resigned but resilient Bridges as Marcus, a cantankerous man whose loneliness beckons in his twilight years. Bridges brings a gruffness and simplicity of execution to the film and gives it an edge that's as timeless as any cops and robbers chase film you've seen. Ultimately, Hell or High Water is a wee ripper of a film; an eclectic and at times, eccentric old school Western that works on many levels. Swathed in contemplative elements and blessed with a stonking script and execution, it's proof there's life in the old dog yet and that when done properly, dialogue is king.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will release worldwide in Fall 2017 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One systems.
An epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland, the game's vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.

Cast: Zach Galifianakis, Isla Fisher, Jon Hamm, Gal Gadot
Director: Greg Mottola
Channeling suburban paranoia and envy to a tee, Keeping Up With The Joneses pushes for broad comedy and somehow manages to come up short.
A thinned down Galifianakis and Fisher are the Gaffneys, a suburban couple whose life has hit a rut. Packing their two kids off to camp for the summer, the pair realise their lives are empty; Jeff has his HR job at a defence company where everyone rides roughshod over him as he's the only one with internet access, and Karen is a frustrated stay at home mum whose summer job is sizing up urinals for their bathroom makeover.
When new neighbours move in in the form of Jon Hamm and Gal Gadot's superglamourous couple The Joneses, she channels her Rear Window tendencies into trying to find fault, believing that under this perfect veneer, Tim and Natalie are hiding something.
It's not long before this paranoia comes to fruition , but Jeff refuses to listen believing he's finally found a friend who wants to share the thrill of going indoor skydiving. However, it soon becomes clear that the Joneses are not what they seem and the Gaffneys are caught up in the whirlwind of international espionage...
Keeping Up With the Joneses purports to riff on the fear that the grass is always greener and the new neighbours lead more exciting lives than you do. And to a degree, the justified paranoia works well for the start of Mottola's film, but it soon becomes clear this is all there is going for it.
Weakly written material soon gives way to chase sequences and a large helping of slapstick as well as shots of Gal Gadot flaunting her perfect physique in lingerie, while delivering wooden dialogue. While the way the suburban awkwardness subsides into genuine suspicions is as broad as it comes, it soon becomes obvious that the comedy chops of Hamm and Galifianakis are being wasted in this under-written flaccid romp that lacks any brains.
As Galifianakis ramps up his panic-based schtick, and Hamm plays up the fact his spy is unhappy with his lot, Fisher goes overboard with her brand of paranoid hysteria writ large. It's a mess that isn't strong enough for farce and is too weak to endure its 100 minutes running time. While the elements of spy comedy are rightly channeled by a soundtrack that feels big band and brassy enough to get the vibe right, little else lands.
You may feel a desire to go Keeping up with the Joneses, but the simple truth is, it's really not worth the effort.

Mixing chaos with pac-dots, speed with bright neon visuals, Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 is a nostalgic blast of arcade entertainment that's speedy at times, and needs to occasionally slow down.
Essentially, the main basic game is still the best and it's hard to improve on simplistic perfection; which is perhaps why Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 fires everything it has at the screen. And from time to time, that makes it less than ideal to play, but bizarrely, equally enticing.
Using consumable jump dots, ghost trains that can be added to by passing by dormant ghosts, and tumbling from one maze to the next, the game's anarchic touches are simultaneously enthralling and conversely want to make you scream at it to simply slow down.
Speeding through the mazes and scoffing Pac-Dots fills your counter and once it's full, you are offered fruit which when consumed, send you into the next maze. With a clock ticking down and speed rising, precision becomes more of an issue and a frustration as you hurtle into ghosts unexpectedly and unwantingly. The game allows you three bumps into a ghost before said ghost gets angry and comes for you.
Each level is graded and you progress through them by levels of score; it's a necessary touch to do so and the game's desire to see you progress is welcome. But Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 can feel like overload at times - it needs to slow down to improve the flow through of the game and that may be its flaw.
It's certainly not a fatal flaw as the game's simply fun at times; but with a little more breathing in between, it could have been much more.
Cast: Tom Cruise, Cobie Smulders, Aldis Hodge, Danika Yarosh, Robert Knepper
Director: Edward Zwick
Once again dialling down his mega-watt smile to get into the clothes of the cinematic equivalent of The Littlest Hobo, Tom Cruise returns as Jack Reacher.
(Much to the annoyance of many who still believe he has neither the height nor the gravitas to fill the boots of their beloved Lee Child hero).
This time around, in the adaptation of the eighteenth book in the Reacher series from way back in 2003, Reacher's plunged deep into a major conspiracy when he tries to help out Army major Susan Turner (Avengers star Cobie Smulders) in charge of Reacher's old investigative unit.
Accused of treason, Turner's in the firing line and Reacher, out of a sense of duty and obligation from when the Major helped him with cases as he drifted from one to the next, busts her out of jail. But the pair soon find themselves on the run with the need to clear both their names.
However, Reacher's not only on the run from shadowy forces, but also having to face up to the fact he could be a father with news a former squeeze's filed a paternity claim with the army....
Rote, formulaic and flat, despite some occasional tautness of execution, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back is as predictable a chase conspiracy movie as ever you'd expect.
A sinewy Cruise may do the action thing reasonably well, but Jack Reacher: Never Go Back never really starts firing at all as its pulpy and dull perfunctory execution plays out. It's part in fact due to its source material and the lumpen and leaden necessary exposition that needs to be dumped to keep things moving along; but with much of the main plot feeling relatively underdeveloped, it feels more like padding as we race from one action sequence to the next.
Saddling Reacher with a conundrum of is it or is it not his kid while Cruise flexes his jawbones and grits his teeth in a demonstration of his intensity doesn't cut it either.
Cobie Smulders doesn't fare well either - going from hard ass action gal to cuckold within the space of moments as the potential love interest is teased out into this nuclear family. It's intensely irritating as the surrogate dad and ultimate bonding storyline plays out - with the kid looking like a young Anna Paquin more and more as the film goes on. And it's barely worth mentioning that there's a distinct lack of chemistry between Smulders and Cruise when it really needs to count.
Missing this time around is a Werner Herzog style baddie to inject some oomph into proceedings - and while Prison Break's Robert Knepper once again rolls out his southern drawl with a side of menace, he's hardly in the film and barely registers - this Reacher is not about the conspiracy and is more about the idea of a drifter being saddled with a family (complete with gloopily sentimental ending) and flounders as a result.
This is a story where convenient things happen because the narrative conveniently demands them and demands nothing from its audience to join the dots.
Ultimately, utterly disposable and instantly forgettable, this formulaic blockbuster lacks the killer thrills and the smarter plot to propel it along with the energy it needs; in fact, Never Go Back proves to be a prophetic title for this Reacher outing.

Cast: Elizabeth Reaser, Annalise Basso, Lulu Wilson, Henry Thomas
Director: Mike Flanagan
There's just something about creepy kids that the horror genre has to keep mining (just ask The Omen) - and Ouija: Origin of Evil has managed to add another one to the pantheon, thanks to this film, based on a board game (one of the wildest conceits the horror world has perhaps seen). After a wildly financially successful but critically mauled first outing, the sequel, acting as a prequel heads to 1965 Los Angeles and to a widowed mother Alice (Reaser) struggling to make ends meet after the death of the patriarch. Equally struggling are daughters Paulina (Basso) and youngest Doris (Wilson, looking like a blonde CGI'd younger version of Reese Witherspoon). Mum Alice is a medium, scamming people who visit but justifying it by offering them comfort for their pain. However, when business isn't powerful enough to keep the foreclosure ghosts away from their door, on Paulina's advice, she gets a Ouija board to use as a prop for her seances. But when youngest Doris claims to have been contacted by her father, something starts to go awry....
Ouija Origin Of Evil is at best a carbon copy horror film, filled with enough references to the past to stop it from being its own thing.
From the start with its usage of the old Universal logo to its vintage setting, use of significant moments from the era in the space age and execution (complete with the circles on the film used in the past to tell projectionists to change reels), this is a flick that's derivative of the genre and that squanders its genuine unease and unsettling set up for something rather familiar.
The deal's sealed when the priest played Henry "Elliott from ET" Thomas shows up outside the house, complete with suitcase and shadow in a blatant rip off from The Exorcist.
It's a shame because aside from the schlock standard jump scares, there's something relatively uneasy about the rather claustrophobic proceedings. From a soundtrack that exudes quiet rather than the traditional blast of a scraping OST to get the requisite jump moments to the evocative period setting, the beginning of Ouija Origin Of Evil is deeply unsettling thanks to tight camera angles and spooky goings on within the tightknit family.
However after Doris is possessed and her mouth starts apeing Munch's The Scream, the film starts to falter and the tropes and inherent illogical silliness that plagues some horror films infects the narrative, and it falls into a trapping of usual stock scares as the back half plays out and the malevolent moppet gets her grips into the family.
While it scores for being a bit more dour and downbeat than the usual fare trotted out for Hallowe'en, there's a feeling that Ouija: Origin Of Evil's more subtly written moments (grief of family, post-traumatic coping) are more successful in hitting the emotional beats than its schlockier edges.
But it still feels like this sequel is possessed by a rogue force rather than a benevolent one intent on ensuring the experience is a smoother ride - it's likely to be as successful as the first, but its derivative edges and reliance on illogical missteps mean it's creatively trapped in the past.

PORK PIE is an action-packed reimagining of the iconic 1981 kiwi classic, Goodbye Pork Pie and stars Dean O’Gorman (The Hobbit, Trumbo, The Almighty Johnsons)James Rolleston (Boy, The Dark Horse) and Ashleigh Cummings (Puberty Blues, Tomorrow when the War Began). The reboot is set to charge into cinemas around the country on Waitangi Weekend, February 2nd 2017, with the dating playing homage to original film (which was released on Waitangi Day in 1981).
Making remarkable progress from his recent injuries, James Rolleston, who plays Luke Anahera, is super-excited for kiwi audiences to see the finished product and is confident that it’s destined to create a whole new generation of PORK PIE fans.
“I had the most fun of my career making this film.” Says Rolleston. “It was great to be involved in a real kiwi comedy with Dean and Ash, and I reckon kiwis are going to love it! I can’t wait to share it with my friends and family and the wider public of Aotearoa.”
Dean O’Gorman, who plays Jon, a failing writer desperate to win back the love of his life, describes being involved in the project a career highlight.
“I spent almost six weeks in a MINI Cooper with James Rolleston driving the length of the country and it was hands down one of the best filming experiences I have ever had” says O’Gorman. “It was incredible to meet a whole bunch of New Zealanders right across the country and hear their affection for the original and excitement for what we were going to do with it.”
True to its original roots, the 2016 production of PORK PIE was a family affair. The film was written and directed by Matt Murphy, son of the director of the original film’s director, Geoff Murphy. Adding to the family connection, Matt’s brother, Miles Murphy, was the second unit director; his sister Robin was the Location Manager; and his daughter, Saoirse was a costume assistant. with Bruno Lawrence’s daughters Veronique and Melissa were script supervisors and his granddaughter Lily worked in the art department.
Director Matt Murphy is thrilled with the finished product.
"I'm really proud of what we've achieved," says Murphy. "I think we've succeeded in harnessing the spirit of Dad's film while delivering some great entertainment for a new generation. We've made our own road to Invers with this film, but theres no mistaking it's from the same family as the original".
PORK PIE Producer Tom Hern, (The Dark Horse) is excited to show the film to audiences:
“It’s a cracker of a roadie!” Says Hern. “It’s got the thrills and spills of course, but it also has a big underdog heartbeat driving it forward. I can’t wait to share the film with audiences both at home and around the world.”
