The Silver Case from Suda51 coming soon

THE SILVER CASE FROM SUDA51 COMING TO AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND IN EARLY 2017 ON THE PS4™

NIS America is happy to announce a partnership with GRASSHOPPER MANUFACTURE INC. and Active Gaming Media Inc. to bring The Silver Case to the PlayStation®4 in North America and Europe in early 2017! A limited edition version of the game will also be available in early 2017 (more details to come). Lastly, fans will be able to check out The Silver Case on PS4 next week at NIS America booth #1621 at MCM London Comic Con!
The Silver Case is an HD remaster of the debut game by developer SUDA51, creator of titles such as FlowerSun and RainKiller 7, the No More Heroes series, Lollipop Chainsaw, and most recentlyLET IT DIE.

About the game:
1999 - the "24 Wards." A string of mysterious serial killings plagues the city.
The detectives of the 24 Wards Heinous Crimes Unit have their eyes on one man: Kamui Uehara, legendary serial killer and assassin of a number of government officials 20 years prior in the now-famous "Silver Case." However, nobody knows who—or what—Kamui really is.
Has he really returned? Who is this infamous serial killer?
As the player, you will take control of the protagonist—a member of the Special Forces Unit known as “Republic”—from a first-person perspective. Inspired by classic adventure and visual novel-style games, The Silver Case offers a fresh and unique gameplay experience as it leads the player through an in-depth story containing various puzzles, and uncovering the truth piece by piece.

English Voice Acting Cast for Persona 5 Gets a Fresh Start

Sydney, Australia - October 21 –Atlus U.S.A., Inc. does not often get to announce voice casts, but considering the magnitude of the game, they can reveal a partial cast list for the English dub of Persona 5. Releasing in Australia on Feb. 14, 2017 on the PlayStation®4 (PS4), the English dub is being supervised by the long-time Persona series project lead in the Americas, Yu Namba.
“We at Atlus U.S.A. take pride in the quality and care we put into casting and dubbing for our games, and Persona 5 is no exception,” said Yu Namba, Persona 5 project lead and recording supervisor. “This is a completely new cast of characters, so we started with a blank slate in bringing life to them with our stellar cast of voice actors. It’s hard saying goodbye to the cast of previous Persona games, but we hope to bring an entirely new tone with a new set of actors for this game.”
The main Persona 5 hero cast includes:
·         Xander Mobus as the protagonist
·         Cassandra Morris as Morgana
·         Max Mittelman as Ryuji Sakamoto
·         Erika Harlacher as Ann Takamaki
·         Matt Mercer as Yusuke Kitagawa
·         Cherami Leigh as Makoto Niijima
·         Erica Lindbeck as Futaba Sakura
·         Xanthe Huynh as Haru Okumura
·         Robbie Daymond as Goro Akechi
Persona 5 is a game about the internal and external conflicts of a group of troubled youth who live dual lives. They have the typically ordinary day-to-day of a Tokyo high-schooler – attending class, after-school activities and part-time jobs. But they also undertake fantastical adventures by using otherworldly powers to enter the hearts of people. Their power comes from the Persona, the Jungian concept of the “self;” the game’s heroes realize that society forces people to wear masks to protect their inner vulnerabilities, and by literally ripping off their protective mask and confronting their inner selves do the heroes awaken their inner power, and use it to strive to help those in need. Ultimately, the group of Phantom Thieves seeks to change their day-to-day world to match their perception and see through the masks modern-day society wears.
Persona 5 will release on Feb. 14 in the Americas, Europe and Australia, for PlayStation 4. Pre-orders of the Steelbook Launch Edition are now available at EB Games and JB Hi Fi.

Hell or High Water: Film Review

Hell or High Water: Film Review

Cast: Chris Pine, Ben Foster, Jeff Bridges, Gil Birmingham
Director: David Mackenzie

There's plenty of soul in the mournful Hell Or High Water.

Managing to cram in a hefty dose of socio-economic commentary in the ruins of towns riddled by foreclosure and debts, Hell Or High Water is the West Texas set tale of two brothers, Toby and Tanner (Pine and Foster) hell-bent on robbing banks for their own reasons.

Enter two Texas Rangers, one Alberto an Indian (Birmingham) whose rueful regret at the banks stealing their heritage and the other Marcus (Bridges), who's on the cusp of retirement, but not about to go lightly or willingly into the long night.

As the laconic game of cat and mouse plays out, there's a very real sense of roads colliding and personal stakes rising, but there's also a deep familial connection that makes itself known.

Depression rears its head all throughout Hell or High Water; from the cutaway shots of roads that are riddled with foreclosure or debt signs or to the long shots of fields dotted with oil wells pumping futilely away, this is a film that's got its condemnation of the financial crisis and the banks hard-wired into its execution.

Sicario writer Taylor Sheridan manages shots of dry humour and Fargo-esque idiosyncratic trappings of character within his taut screenplay that examines the relationships between the two brothers and the two rangers, and works best when it concentrates on those elements. Both have bits of brotherhood scattered through; from Marcus' continual plaguing of put-upon Alberto with racial slurs or being annoying, to Toby and Tanner's reunion after Tanner's time in jail and his black sheep status within the family.

But it's in the subtleties that this film works - the quieter moments, led by a hang-dog Pine who underplays to great effect, are infinitely more worthwhile than the continual quirks of some of the residents of West Texas. Sheridan captures the frailties of familial bonds with ease. And accentuated by a Warren Ellis / Nick Cave score, the whole thing bathes in a kind of timeless dread.

Equally worthy of recognition is a resigned but resilient Bridges as Marcus, a cantankerous man whose loneliness beckons in his twilight years. Bridges brings a gruffness and simplicity of execution to the film and gives it an edge that's as timeless as any cops and robbers chase film you've seen.

Ultimately, Hell or High Water is a wee ripper of a film; an eclectic and at times, eccentric old school Western that works on many levels. Swathed in contemplative elements and blessed with a stonking script and execution, it's proof there's life in the old dog yet and that when done properly, dialogue is king.
