Not Everything Is Meant To Be Shared. Prime Video Announces Premiere Date and Official Trailer for Amazon Exclusive Conversations With Friends

 

Conversations With Friends stars Joe Alwyn, Alison Oliver, Jemima Kirke and Sasha Lane and

launches on Prime Video in New Zealand, Australia and Canada on May 16, 2022

 

Prime Video has today announced that the highly anticipated Amazon Exclusive Conversation with Friends will air on Monday 16^th May 2022 with all episodes available that day. Conversations with Friends follows Frances (Alison Oliver), a 21 year old college student, as she navigates a series of relationships that force her to confront her own vulnerabilities for the first time. Directed by Lenny Abrahamson (Room, The Little Stranger, Frank) and Leanne Welham (Pili, His Dark Materials), produced by Element Pictures (Normal People, Room, The Favourite) and adapted from Sally Rooney’s debut novel.

 

The series stars emerging talent Alison Oliver, alongside Sasha Lane (American Honey, The Miseducation Of Cameron Post), Joe Alwyn (The Favourite, Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk) and Jemima Kirke (Sex Education, Girls).

 

Frances (Oliver) is observant, cerebral and sharp. Her ex-girlfriend, now best friend, Bobbi (Lane) is self-assured, outspoken and compelling. Though they broke up three years ago, Frances and Bobbi are virtually inseparable and perform spoken word poetry together in Dublin. It’s at one of their shows that they meet Melissa (Kirke), an older writer, who is fascinated by the pair. Bobbi and Frances start to spend time with Melissa and her husband, Nick (Alwyn), a handsome but reserved actor. While Melissa and Bobbi flirt with each other openly, Nick and Frances embark on an intense, secret affair that is surprising to them both. Soon the affair begins to test the bond between Frances and Bobbi, forcing Frances to reconsider her sense of self, and the friendship she holds so dear.

 

Conversations With Friends has been commissioned by Piers Wenger, Controller of BBC Drama and Fiona Campbell, Controller of BBC Three in the UK. It is co-financed by Northern Ireland Screen. Executive producers are Ed Guiney (Normal People, The Favourite, Room, The Lobster), Emma Norton (Normal People, Rosie, The Souvenir: Part II) and Andrew Lowe (Normal People, The Favourite) for Element Pictures, Rose Garnett (Normal People, The Favourite, The Souvenir) and Tommy Bulfin (Normal People, Line of Duty, Peaky Blinders) for the BBC and Lenny Abrahamson. Catherine Magee (Normal People, Resistance, Rebellion) is series producer and Jeanie Igoe (Ramy, Miss Juneteenth, The Green Knight) is producer. Alice Birch (Normal People, Succession, Lady Macbeth), Mark O’Halloran (Rialto), Meadhbh McHugh (Asking For It) and Susan Soon He Stanton (Succession) have adapted the novel for TV.

 

Conversations with Friends will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on 16 May in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

The first season of the spinoff is loosely based on Michael Connelly’s The Wrong Side of Goodbye and follows Harry as he begins a new chapter as a private investigator. For his first job, he is tasked with finding the only potential heir to an ailing billionaire, Whitney Vance. He clashes with powerful figures who have a vested interest in that person not being found. When he looks into the family tree, he discovers shocking revelations spanning generations. Since he doesn’t have a badge and prefers old-school tactics, Maurice “Mo” Bassi, a tech-forward gadget whiz who shares his fondness for smooth jazz and commitment to justice, becomes an invaluable resource. Meanwhile, as a rookie patrol officer, Maddie is paired with Reina Vasquez, a no-nonsense, hard-charging training officer. She must figure out what kind of cop she wants to be. Harry, who continues to live by the code that everybody counts, or nobody counts—believes it’s clear: Being a cop is either a mission or just a job.

They’ve carefully guarded their secret ever since, but when an enigmatic young man enters their lives, the Yorks’ quiet existence is quickly upended...and the mystifying chamber they thought they knew so well turns out to be much more than they could ever have imagined.

Night Sky is a co-production of Amazon Studios and Legendary Television (Carnival Row, Paper Girls) and is written and co-executive produced by Holden Miller, with Daniel C. Connolly serving as showrunner and executive producer. Mosaic’s Jimmy Miller and Sam Hansen serve as executive producers, along with Emmy and BAFTA Award-winner Philip Martin.
