For over a decade, The Walking Dead has garnered legions of dedicated fans across the world with its  beloved characters and gripping tales of survival in a world ravaged by a zombie apocalypse. Now, you  can journey back to the beginning to rediscover the stories, revisit your favourite characters and relive  the almost unbearable tension. Shudder continues its weekly premieres of earlier seasons of The  Walking Dead throughout December.

Season 5

Premieres Thursday 1 December

Season 4 of The Walking Dead ended with Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the group outgunned, outnumbered, and trapped in  a train car awaiting a grim fate. When the true motives of the people of Terminus become apparent, they must fight for their lives. Then, with the prospect of a cure in Washington, DC, but new obstacles in their path, the group must hold onto their hopes. The characters will find love and  hate. Peace and conflict. Contentment and terror. And, in the quest to find a permanent, safe place to  call home, one question will haunt the: After all they’ve seen, all they’ve done, all they’ve sacrificed,  lost, and held on to no matter what the cost... who do they become?

Season 6

Premieres Thursday 8 December

With the group now consummate survivors, they have evolved into incredibly powerful people. But who have they become? Season  6 gets under way with Alexandria's safety shattered by multiple threats. To make it, the citizens will need to catch up with our  survivors’ hardness while many of our survivors will need to take a step back from the violence and pragmatism they've needed to embrace. These reversals won't happen  easily, or without conflict. But now the group is fighting for something more than survival... They're fighting  for their home, and they will defend that at any cost, against any threat, even if that threat comes from  within.

Season 7

Premieres Thursday 15 December

Up to this point, our characters have lived through multiple conflicts: Disease, hunger, the undead, tragedy, betrayal, and  unthinkable loss. Through this, they've become formidable. Powerful. Unstoppable. At the outset of Season 7, that power is taken away. They had found safety and stability. They had created a home. They thought the world was theirs. But they were wrong. The first half of the season sees our  group fractured, broken, bereaved, and picking up the pieces while living under the thumb of oppression.  Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) has successfully brought the survivors under his control, brutally  convincing them to live by his rules with the threat of deadly reprisals against disobedience. The overall  theme of the season is new beginnings. The world isn't what they thought it was. It's bigger and it's even  more dangerous.

Season 8

Premieres Thursday 22 December

Last season, Rick Grimes and his group of survivors were  confronted with their deadliest challenge yet. With the comfort of  Alexandria, they let their guard down, only to be reminded how brutal the world they live in can be. Negan and the Saviors broke the group. Feeling powerless under Negan's rule, the group played along. But seeing his lack of reason, Rick began rallying together the other communities affected by the  Saviors. And with the support of the Hilltop and Kingdom, they finally have enough fire power to contest  the Negan and his group. This season, Rick brings "All Out War" to Negan and his ruthless forces. They  must fight to take back their freedom; to reclaim their lives and rebuild. Rick is leading the Alexandrian  forces, Maggie (Lauren Cohan) leading the Hilltop, and King Ezekiel (Khary Payton) is leading the  Kingdom - Negan and the Saviors' grip on this world may finally be coming to an end. But what and who  will be lost along the way?

Season 9

Premieres Thursday 29 December

Last season brought the culmination of “All Out War,” which pitted Rick Grimes and his group of survivors against the Saviors and their cunning leader, Negan. With Negan’s life in his hands, Rick had a character-defining choice in front of him. By making the  unilateral decision to spare Negan, Rick upheld the values of his late son, but created conflict within his group. Now, we see our survivors a year and a half after the end  of the war, rebuilding civilisation under Rick’s leadership. It is a time of relative peace among the  communities as they work together, looking to the past to forge the future, but the world they knew is  rapidly changing as man-made structures continue to degrade, and nature takes over. However, nothing  has prepared them for the formidable force they are about to encounter, which threatens the very idea of  civilisation that our survivors have worked so hard to build.
