Zombieland: Headshot Fever Reloaded: PSVR2 Review

Light gun shooters were all the rage in the first iteration of the PlayStation VR headset.

The Until Dawn carny spin off Rush of Blood proved to be the groundbreaker for this, and while it's not entirely a surprise they'd be rolled out for the second iteration of PlayStation's gaming tech, what's surprising with Zombieland: Headshot Fever Reloaded is just how much irreverent fun it all is.

Set in the world of Zombieland and after the sequel Zombieland: Double Tap, Zombieland: Headshot Fever Reloaded sees you taking the lead role in a rogues' gallery shooting contest the Zombie Invitational.

Set in a hub that's a mansion and with power ups being unlocked by toilet paper, Zombieland: Headshot Fever Reloaded is all about simply letting you head off and stop the apocalypse as they shamble towards you.

With simple directional controls worked by just looking, the cartoony edges of Zombieland: Headshot Fever Reloaded are evident from the start, with its cartoon artwork providing the thrill of the ambling chase.

Perks include getting more access to more ammo, gaining more toilet paper and generally levelling up through various training elements and missions. It's easy stuff - double shoot a zombie in the head and time slows down, your adrenaline goes sky high and come the end of the round, you gain time for how long you spent in this Matrix-style mode.

With an extra story level, three new remix levels, additional Gun Range challenges, new weapons, this latest iteration of the Zombieland franchise is more about the experience - and while it's kind of piecemeal in its level approach, easy mistakes can still be made.

Zombieland: Headshot Fever Reloaded may not have the original cast voicing their onscreen counterparts, but in all other aspects this on-the-rails carny ride of shooting is fun and disposable enough fun - but makes use of what the PSVR2 has on offer.
