Formula 1 racing is one of the toughest disciplines within the racing world, and it's no surprise the computer simulation versions of the genre are equally as tough.

The latest iteration of Codemasters' F1 game adds much to the series, not just by bringing back its Braking Point racing story which first appeared in 2021. Featuring a narrative mode as well as cut scenes, the return of this is very much welcome as it helps invest in a game that's really just a case of racing around the track and winning.

With the inclusion of daily, weekly and seasonal games, Codemasters has gone above and beyond to try and ensure fans want to keep returning to the game. And by tweaking the game's HUD and UI, it's added in little details that prove this series is worth the time.

Looking technically impressive, both off and on the track helps immensely too, as F1 23 brings back its Career mode and boosts it with more tracks. Handling is a little easier even with improved physics - but the basics are still the same - drive around the track, stop yourself from crashing and being beaten into last place.

F1 World is a great addition to the game as well - a more arcade based feel that is less interested in the competitive edges of the Career and Braking Point series - and one that focuses more on building driving skills, upgrading vehicles and subsequently progressing through the game.

Ultimately, this is a sleek and impressive sports package that appeals to all levels of fans of the driving sim - Codemasters clearly has two hands on the wheel and thanks to the skills shown in executing F1 23, it's got no chance of crashing off the track.
