Logitech G522 Headset: Review

Logitech G522 Headset: Review

Mid-range headphone sets are a must these days, what with cost-of-living crises rumbling on and people looking for a sensible alternative to help while away the time.

Logitech G522 Headset: Review

Logitech is aware of those pressures and has released the Logitech G522 headset for gamers and those looking to casually use headphones for their own needs. (The set retails at $349.99).

And while the set's more suited to a gaming environment than everyday use, there are some options to use the headphones for day-to-day business. But in truth, that's not the core reason to own these.

With a sleek design that's comfortable for long-term wear and tear and a microphone that delivers a crystal-clear quality of sound, the headset's clearly been designed with the user in mind, rather than what the company wants to deliver.

As a result, the set does what it needs to - and comfortably so.

While the flashing RGB lights and subtle colours mark it out as different, their inclusion is purely a cosmetic one for those more likely to be on camera and for those who prefer to be colourful in the confines of their own gaming environment. It clearly isn't for anyone who wants to sit quietly in a chair listening to music - although if that's your desire too, that's not a bad thing.

With access to the G Hub to finetune the audio output, there's enough possibility to tinker with what you need for sound, and again, ensuring the customisation of these headphones makes it clear that Logitech is merely a platform provider, with its focus being on the customer alone.

At the end of the day, while the 48 mHz/ 16 bit microphone provides crisp audio both on the receiving and sending out ends, the set is really about two things only - comfort and sound quality.

While there's a limited adjustability for the headset itself, the headband and ear cups are comfortable, ensuring long sessions will be rewarded with little sweat, discomfort and a lack of those marks on the side of your head.

But it's the sound that continues to impress, with atmospheric games supported by the DTS sound and the snugness of the earcups ensuring there's no audio bleed. From first person shooters with their need for communication to simply online gaming, the set works well with no lag from what's on screen filtering into your head.

If the RGB function's not enabled, the battery life can last upto 60 hours, ensuring that you can easily do what you need to do with them without worrying about whether they're going to give up.

Ultimately, the Logitech G522 make a solid argument for an investment. Given Black Friday and Christmas sales are coming up, there could be a chance of scoring them at a lesser price - however, if you're serious about audio quality, comfort and durability, the Logitech G522 make a spectacular argument for ownership.

Logitech G522 key features:

  • Bold, sleek design with customisable LIGHTSYNC RGB—up to 16.8 million colours.
  • 48kHz/16-bit mic delivers crystal-clear voice and stream-ready sound.
  • PRO-G drivers and 48kHz/24-bit audio for rich, low-distortion sound and deep bass.
