Rooftops and Alleys: PS5 Review

There's a scene in the pre-credits of the US version of The Office where Michael Scott and second-in-command Dwight Schrute come flying into the Dunder-Mifflin offices, leaping on sofas, climbing on walls and rolling while shouting the word "Parkour" to varying effect.
Their stumbling and pathetic efforts at liquid movement may be familiar to you in Rooftops and Alleys when you first begin its game of Parkour and moving around.
It's not an easy system to get your head around initially, and the running and jumping requires a certain skill of timing and button-pressing to ensure you get the moves you need. It'll feel very familiar to those raised on the games of Tony Hawk and the skill-sets required there in terms of chaining tricks together and making it all seem effortless.
With six levels unlocked right away, the game is keen to open its scope up, but it doesn't feel like there's quite enough for people to want to stay engaged forever with it. Hopefully MLMedia will look to expand what they're building on as the physics and the feel of Rooftops and Alleys when it works are second-to-none.
From time trials to trick trials, there's enough to keep you engaged and certainly, given it's moved away from the skateboard ethos, the game has clearly got some promise.
It may be flipping fine for now, but hopefully, despite some smooth edges and a feeling of joy when you're hurling through the air, there will be more to come for Rooftops and Alleys to evolve.
