Broadway Idiot: DVD Review

Broadway Idiot: DVD Review

Rating: M
Released by Madman Home Ent

American Idiot is one of the best albums of the last decade. Period.

So, this doco takes a look at the creation of that album into a Broadway musical - and manages to get a rare inside look into the creative process of one of the most private pop stars of our time - Billie Joe Armstrong.

IT's quite bizarre seeing the rock god work with theatrical veterans to create the stage show, but with fly on the wall access to the auditions and the overall process, Broadway Idiot becomes a fascinating doco into the way the theatrical world works. From witnessing his reaction to some of the songs being re-arranged to realising his dream of taking part on the stage and being part of a community, Broadway Idiot manages to create something a little bit special.

It helps that the album is such a great starting point - and this doco will have you reaching for it to play it loud.

All in all, Broadway Idiot will appeal to any fans of the band's music - and for anyone interested in the creative process, it's an absolute must see.
