Shadow Warrior 3: PS5 Review

That's not to say that Flying Wild Hog has tried to fob something old off as something new, merely that the combination of elements of Doom, Guardians of the Galaxy style quipping and Devil May Cry hack'n'slash is very familiar - even if it's packaged into a pleasingly disposable game.

You're back as Lo Wang, the protagonist of the Shadow Warrior series. A massive dragon is wreaking havoc across the world and it's upto Wang to save the day. But it's not just the dragon wreaking havoc with Wang's life, it's his own demons too that he has to battle...

Shadow Warrior 3 starts off with a fight on the back of a dragon and doesn't really let up from there.

Hordes of bad guys start attacking early on, and Wang can dispatch them with either katana or bullets, while making asides doing so - it's a winning formula deployed by many a game, and it's one which Shadow Warrior 3 isn't interested in doing anything different with.

But the hack and slash elements of the combat are so playable and fluid that you'll stop caring long before the game's logic issues get to you.

Upgrades to weapons are around, but in truth, the basics can see you through this very pleasurable and disposable title. It's an intriguing mix of both FPS and hack'n'slash - and with a very likeable protagonist, it makes the brief journey somewhat of an enjoyable one, even if it is entirely forgettable once the game's run and done.
