Hick: Blu Ray Review

Hick: Blu Ray Review

Rating: R18
Released by Universal Home Entertainment

Kick Ass' Chloe Grace Moretz stars in this cinematic adaptation of Andrea Portes' novel.

When small town girl Luli turns 13, and is abandoned by both her white trash mother and father, she decides to run away to Vegas to try for a better life. However, she is picked up by questionable Eddie (Eddie Redmayne) and also meets cocaine-snorting drifter Glenda (Gossip Girl's Blake Lively).

However, when she discovers these two know each other, things go a little awry.

Hick benefits from a good opening act and a strong performance from Chloe Grace Moretz, who quotes movie lines, carries a gun and generally acts well above her years. It's a shame then, that once it heads to Vegas it all falls into a quite nasty tale, which isn't particularly watchable.

Disappointing in the extreme and sleazy, Hick isn't your average night in's watch and you may end up feeling a little sordid afterwards.

Extras - None; not even subtitles.
