Spiderhead (June 17)

Headlining this month is Spiderhead, starring the one and only Chris Hemsworth alongside Miles Teller. Based on The New Yorker short story ‘Escape from Spiderhead’ by George Saunders, the film is a genre-bending psychological and darkly funny thriller about a scientist who performs experiments on inmates in exchange for commuted sentences. Spiderhead was filmed throughout Queensland, Australia featuring beautiful scenic shots of the Whitsundays and Gold Coast.

 

Interceptor (June 3)

Action fans, strap in, because Interceptor is going to knock your socks off! The film stars Elsa Pataky as the last officer standing on a remote missile defense base battling for her life against a coordinated terrorist attack. Directed by Australian author Mathew Reilly who is making his directorial debut and co-wrote the film with fellow Australian Stuart Beattie, the film was shot in Sydney with Pataky’s husband Chris Hemsworth as Executive Producer.

 

Surviving Summer (June  3)

The Australian content continues with tween drama series, Surviving Summer! The 10 episode series follows rebellious American teen Summer Torres who finds family, friendship and the perfect wave after landing in the tiny Australian surfing town of Shorehaven on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria.

 

God’s Favorite Idiot (June 15)

For the comedy fans, God’s Favorite Idiot tells the story of a sweet soul on a mission from God. Starring Melissa McCarthy alongside husband, writer and creator Ben Falcone, the film was shot in New South Wales. 

 

Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend (June 15)

Now to satisfy your food cravings, we bring to you Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend, where food stars including Australian Curtis Stone compete against Iron Chef icons. The pressing question is, who will win the gold knife and Iron Chef Legend title?

 

Borgen - Power & Glory (June 2)

If you’re looking for a classic political drama, Borgen - Power & Glory follows Foreign Minister Birgitte Nyborg, who finds her career in jeopardy when a dispute over oil in Greenland threatens to become an international crisis. The series explores some of the biggest issues of our time, including the struggle for power and what power does to people, the relevance of the Danish Realm in the modern world, the superpowers’ battle for control of the Arctic – and not least, the climate crisis.

 

Halftime (June 14)

A fan of celebrity culture? New documentary Halftime offers an intimate peek behind the curtain at global superstar Jennifer Lopez.
